Omandur Ramasamy Reddiyar wasn’t just a politician—he was a principled reformer who left behind a legacy of social justice and administrative integrity. He was Born in Omandur, Dindivanam Dt, in a farmer’s family, was a freedom fighter, social activist & statesman. He was the first Premier (CM) of Madras Presidency after Independence (March 1947- April 1949), brought Acts to allow Dalits into temples & to abolish Devadasi system. He assisted Sardar Patel to fight with Razakars of Hyderabad & brought it into Indian main stream. He was known for his simplicity, honesty, integrity & transparency as CM. In fact, this was why he had to resign, as his colleagues were unhappy that they were not allowed special privileges. There is a Mani Mandapam for him at Omandur, a Govt Medical College in Chennai is named after him & his anniversaries are being conducted as Govt functions every year. Govt of India released a ₹5 Postage stamp in his honor in 2010.
Thiru K.Rangarajan was born at Kolakkudi a small village in Musiri taluk. He studied upto 7th standard only.
He started his career as a lorry driver first and then he started lorry service by name K R Transports.By his hardwork and sincerity he soon became an entrepreneur and helped many by giving them employment opportunities.
Eventhough he had no higher educational qualfication he helped thousands of students to get college admissions and higher educational qualifications.
He was the founder of the Tamil Nadu State Reddy Nala Sangam.He passed away on the birth anniversary of OPR.
